Desenzano del Garda: information and advice

Choosing Desenzano del Garda for a camping or tourist village holiday on Lake Garda means being sure of numerous leisure opportunities, since this is one of the largest comunes in the province of Brescia, and the most extensive lakeshore area. Packed with history, Desenzano retains many legacies of its past, ranging from monuments to squares, the castle to the archaeological sites, and the old port. In addition to all this are the beaches - four main ones - and a strategic location at the southernmost tip of Garda Lombardia, well-connected with the major cities and ideal for reaching other important Garda destinations, including those on the Veneto shore, just a few kilometres away.

The beaches at Desenzano del Garda

Visitors to Lake Garda in summer do not only enjoy the facilities provided by campsites and tourist villages, even though these may have pools and private beaches. The wonderful thing about spending time in Desenzano del Garda is in fact the chance to explore the area and its leisure opportunities which here amount to a total of four fantastic lakeside beaches: Spiaggia Desenzanino, Spiaggia Feltrinelli, Spiaggia d'Oro and Spiaggia Rivoltella. There's also Spiaggia dei Canneti, recommended for nudists. As for amenities, these are furnished beaches that offer entertainment too: from the possibility of trying water sports by day, to aperitifs and dinners by night.

What to do in Desenzano

Activities at the campsite and days at the beach are just one part - albeit extremely pleasant - of the leisure opportunities available at Desenzano del Garda. From walks along the lakeshore to shopping, via restaurants and night clubs to exploring the narrow streets of the town centre and the packed calendar of events, everything in Desenzano is designed for an enjoyable and satisfying holiday for the tourists who crowd the area's campsites and tourist villages. While the town's attractions - Desenzano Castle, the Duomo di Santa Maria Maddalena and Piazza Malvezzi - are worth a visit, remember too that from Desenzano it's easy to reach other Garda destinations such as Sirmione and Peschiera del Garda, as well as smaller towns and villages. Lastly, the Gardaland amusement park is around 20 minutes' drive away.
